If most panels on the car fall in this range, it likely hasn’t been repainted or repaired. 0.2-0.4 mm Slightly thicker than factory paint, this range could indicate a light respray or additional clear coat layering. It may have been done for cosmetic enhancement or to correct minor scratches, but it’s usually not a sign of serious damage. 0.4-0.5 mm This level suggests aftermarket paintwork or a partial repair. It may mean a panel was repainted due to moderate damage or wear. While not necessarily a problem, it indicates the vehicle has had some past bodywork. 0.5+ mm A reading in this range strongly indicates significant body repair, such as the use of body filler, multiple layers of paint, or a full respray after an accident.
