As these units age failure due to solenoids becoming encumbered with sludge, filter screen obstruction, and seized shuttle valves become increasingly more common. Normal braking becomes compromised and ABS function is extremely limited. Lack of fluid flow through the pump to the rear caliper circuit is the most common failure mode, with a potential for the valving to stick the calipers in the ON/HOLD position locking the brakes.
